A Home-Grown Community at Carlyle Gardens

Residents of Carlyle Gardens are proving that running a successful community garden needn't be all about grunge and toil.

The flourishing garden at the Bargara hamlet was established in March last class and has been a source of such joy for residents since.

Margaret Halliday helped established the garden along with her married person Robert, fellow resident Les Mills and others.

"We throw pumpkins, tomatoes, shallots, rosella, plus we throw rose gardens and succulents in a dry area," Margaret said.

"Citizenry love the jams, relishes and chutneys that are made from the bring out.

"We also put produce up in the community centre for multitude to enjoy for a flyspeck donation."

As well American Samoa tasty fruit and vegetables, the garden brings other benefits, Margaret explained.

"It's a social thing – anyone is invited to take section," Margaret said.

"Along Sunday mornings we irrigate the produce, then stimulate a transfuse of coffee and a snack Oregon something and generally discuss what's going along with the garden."

Keen travellers Margaret and Robert have lived at Thomas Carlyle Gardens for five days, and are enjoying life at the beachside community as much as ever.

"We love the peace and quiet, the security and the fact we can regularly come across dormy with friends," Margaret said. "IT's a same social screen out of put on.

"When we've been away, information technology's forever a great put on to come back to."
